Winona-Ryder
Winona Ryder is the professionally-known name of Winona Laura Hoowitz who was birthed in Winona Minnesota. She was named by her parents after the town where she grew up. Her father Michel Horowitz, and mother Cynthia Palmer are authors and editors. Ryder believes she is Jewish, is descended from Ryder's Jewish father. Ryder has two half-siblings younger than her, Jubal and Sunyata. Ryder's family relocated from Mendocino County to California, when she was just 7 years old. There was no electricity. The books on television were Ryder's only distraction to pass the time. Eventually, she became an avid reader. Ryder began taking acting lessons in the American Conservatory Theatre in 1983, when she was twelve years old. Lucas, a 1986 film, was her first major character. Ryder was only 15 when she got it. Ryder was bullied in high school. Her acting career, she hoped to help, could have helped her. However, it didn't happen. The actress continued to chase her ambitions. Her breakthrough came through Tim Burton's Beetlejuice in the year 1988. Ryder played successful roles for various films. Two Academy Awards were nominated, one of which was for The Age of Innocence (1996).
